Curling:
Curling is for
everyone! It is a wonderful
sport that we are sure your children are going to
enjoy.

This information
sheet provides everything you need to know to get your child started in
curling.
What does my child
need to wear? The curling rink is
meant to be cool, not cold, therefore layers are best. A good fleece as a
top layer works perfectly. It is imperative that your child bring
a clean pair of sneakers. The curling ice will get damaged if outdoor
shoes are worn on its surface. We recommend hockey helmets for young
children. Curling is played on ice and there is always a risk of falling.
So as a parent, please use your own discretion about whether your child
will need a helmet. All other equipment will be provided!
How do I get involved as a parent? We encourage all parents to stay and watch
their child develop their curling skills throughout the season. If you
feel that you would like to help out “on ice” as a parent volunteer,
please let us know! The curling club is run completely by volunteers…..we
always appreciate any help that you are willing to give us. Once the
season starts, we will hand out a rotating snack schedule to all parents;
we thank you in advance for helping feed some hungry curlers!
Is there any fundraising involved? We
are very fortunate to have Tim Hortons as our
official sponsor. So please support our local franchises as a way to
thank Tim Hortons for their continued generousity!
In our effort to focus on good
communication, we will send home flyers as necessary to keep you informed
about events coming up and so forth. There will also be a part of the
bulletin board dedicated to the Timbits Curling
program that outlines the basics of the program and what your child will
be learning on a weekly basis.
